About
From the Author
I grew up in Texas, but lived and worked in New York for twenty years. Upon returning to Dallas with my family, I made the decision to begin writing full-time, and in 2008 my first novel, The Heretic's Daughter, was published. The book is now in its twelfth printing and published in 17 countries. That novel was followed by two more works of historical fiction, The Traitor's Wife and The Outcasts. My first love has always been historical fiction, but when I was asked to submit a short story for a contemporary crime anthology, Dallas Noir, I became so intrigued by the main character, Detective Betty Rhyzyk, that I developed the story into a full-length novel. The first two books in the resulting trilogy, The Dime, and The Burn, were both Edgar Award nominees. The final book, The Pledge, was published in 2021.
Black Wolf, published February 2023, is my first spy thriller and a novel I've wanted to write for many years. It's a story I felt uniquely qualified to undertake, as it's based, in part, on my own experiences as a Department of Defense contractor assigned to the former Soviet Union in the early 1990's.
